Reluctant Republican: "NO" to Same-Sex Marriage

Came across this clip on New York Magazine's site.  It's NY State Senator Jim Alesi who reps the Rochester area.

He's one of the 30 Republicans who voted "no" on Dec. 2nd, defeating the Marriage Equality Bill.  (8 Democrats also voted "no;" it was defeated 38-24.)

Looks to me like Sen. Alesi was pretty darn reluctant -- and maybe even ashamed -- to be depriving so many deserving couples the right to marry in New York.

What if just a few more of his equality-supporting constituents had called or written to him before that day?  Maybe that's all it would have taken to swing his vote in the direction of justice.
